According to the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand have lead the Broadband Readiness Index (BRI).
Out of 21 states which were analysed, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Puducherry, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh emerged as the five best states on the BRI. The ranking is also contingent on the size and population density of the state.
As per industry sources, 24 states/ union territories (UT) have provided complete data for the index, while partial data has been received from Maharashtra, Odisha, Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Further, no data has been received from Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal.
DoT is sourcing material from secondary sources such as Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), telecom service providers (TSPs) and Tower and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA), for the states that have not submitted the data.
