The government of Chhattisgarh is reportedly set to launch the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-focused special economic zone (SEZ) in Nava Raipur. The dedicated zone is likely to cater exclusively to the development and operation of AI technologies and data-centric activities.

Equipped with advanced computer systems and servers, the SEZ is being designed to attract global companies to carry out their digital operations from Chhattisgarh. Further, to accelerate innovation, the state government has granted tax and legal exemptions for the project.

Being developed by RackBank DataCenters Private Limited, the SEZ involves an investment of around Rs 10 billion. It is expected to span approximately 6 acres and feature a 0.15 million square foot data centre outfitted with modern infrastructure. Future plans include the construction of four high-density data centres with a combined capacity of 80 megawatt (MW), capable of supporting digital networks across multiple states.

The facility is set to house IT engineers, data scientists, cybersecurity professionals, and network managers. RackBank also plans to run skill development programs in collaboration with ITI, engineering, and polytechnic institutes in Chhattisgarh to prepare local students for employment in the digital and AI sectors.
