According to IndiaAI Mission authority, the centre has received bids proposing to offer 18,000 graphic processing units (GPUs) in the second round of the IndiaAI GPU tender. Following technical qualification and commercial bid openings, around 15,000 GPUs are expected to be finally offered.

This follows the first round of the GPU tender, where the government is offering 15,000 GPUs at subsidised rates to Indian start-ups, academia, and research institutions. In addition, in the second round, Yotta Data Services has proposed Nvidia Blackwell B200 GPUs.

Firms invited to present their proposals on May 14, 2025, include NTT GDC India (formerly Netmagic IT Services), Cyfuture India, Sify Digital Services, Vensysco Technologies, Locuz Enterprise Solutions, Yotta Data Services, and Ishan Infotech.

The IndiaAI Mission has already received over 230 applications for developing India-specific large language models (LLMs) and small language models (SLMs), with more than 30,000 GPU requests in the pipeline. Meanwhile, some bidders are preparing to offer higher-end GPUs in the upcoming third round.
