The centre has approved substantial financial assistance to support the development of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing activities in Nava Raipur, the new capital city of Chhattisgarh.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has sanctioned the release of the first instalment of Rs 225 million for a common facility centre (CFC) being established in Nava Raipur under the Electronics Manufacturing Clusters 2.0 (EMC 2.0) scheme.

According to official sources, the funds were released after obtaining approval from the President of India, allowing the project to formally enter the implementation stage.

As per the approved procedure, the proposal was initially examined by the Project Management Agency, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI). Subsequently, the project review committee recommended the release of 30 per cent of the approved central financial assistance as the first instalment, which has now been sanctioned by the ministry.

The CFC is expected to offer shared infrastructure, including advanced machinery, testing facilities and technical support for electronics and semiconductor units. These facilities are expected to particularly benefit small and medium enterprises by providing access to high-end infrastructure at significantly lower costs.

Additionally, the ministry has clarified that the grant will be utilised strictly in line with prescribed financial rules and only for approved project objectives. The project accounts will be subject to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to ensure transparency and accountability.
