As per the government, all telecom service providers and technology vendors have been allowed to participate in 5G trials. At present, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is working on further modalities.
As per the government, all network equipment makers, including China-based Huawei and ZTE have been allowed to participate in the trials.
DoT has reportedly invited all the stakeholders to discuss the field trial roadmap for 5G networks.
Among operators, Vodafone Idea has partnered with Ericsson and Huawei for 5G trials. Further, Bharti Airtel has sought permission to conduct trials with Nokia, Huawei and Ericsson. Meanwhile, Reliance Jio has applied for a 5G pilot initiative with Samsung.
