Smartphone manufacturer-Celkon Mobiles is targeting a turnover of Rs 10 billion in 2015-16. To this end, the company is planning to restructure the distribution network and employ new promotional strategies.

The company is planning to increase its presence in Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and West Bengal. The company is planning an expenditure of about Rs 500 million in marketing and branding in 2015, a 43 per cent increase over Rs 350 million, it had spent in 2014.

Celkon is also planning to foray into the East and West African markets such as South Africa and Rawanda, along with Bangladesh and Europe. Meanwhile, it is also focusing on improving its presence in the existing 12 countries, including Sri Lanka, Nepal, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nigeria, Senegal, Kenya, Ukraine, Georgia and Turkey.

Celkon at present offers 20 handsets in the entry and mid-level segments. Its handsets are currently imported from China. The company is also open to setting up the own handset-manufacturing facility in the country.
