Government’s Centre for Development of Advance Computing (CDAC) in collaboration with IIT Madras has developed two microprocessors named SHAKTI (32 bit) and VEGA (64 bit) respectively using open source architecture under the aegis of Microprocessor Development Programme of Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).

As part of this programme, MeitY has launched the Swadeshi Microprocessor challenge, under which MeitY is offering financial support amounting to Rs 430 million at various stages of the challenge for developing the hardware prototype and incubating a start-up along with expert guidance.

The 10-month challenge will be available for registration from August 18, 2020, via the MyGov Portal.
