The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has reportedly favoured departmental action against Santokh Singh, former legal advisor to A. Raja, former Minister of Communications and IT. The agency has alleged that Singh suppressed facts in the Loop Telecom-Essar Group shareholding case.
In its chargesheet, the CBI has chronologically listed the order in which various telecom companies had approached the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in 2007 and how Singh allegedly suppressed the facts while presenting the case of various telecom companies while awarding spectrum in 2008.
Singh allegedly wrongfully advised the allotment of permits to Loop Telecom. Moreover, the CBI claims that he was aware that the company was in alleged violation of telecom guidelines.
Meanwhile, both the Essar Group and Loop telecom refuted all the charges against them.
