The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has told the Supreme Court that it would file the main charge sheet against A. Raja, former Minister of Telecommunications and IT, on his alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum allotment issue on March 31, 2011.
The agency said the charge sheet would also include the conspiracy angle in the issue. It told an apex court bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and Asok Kumar Ganguly that the supplementary charge sheet against other beneficiaries of the issue would be filed in due course of time.
The court has asked the central government to issue appropriate notifications for setting up a special court to exclusively try cases arising out of the 2G issue by March 29. It also asked the CBI to suggest who the special public prosecutor should be to lead the prosecution case before the special court by then.
The matter will come up for further hearing on March 29, 2011.
