The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as part of their investigation of the alleged beneficiaries of Swan Telecom, has sent a request to Switzerland to uncover the antecedents of Mavi Investment Fund. This Fund is alleged to have made a payment of $4 million to Reliance Telecom.
According to the CBI, it was mandatory to send a letter rogatory (LR) to Switzerland, for which the agency obtained approval from Ministry of Home Affairs on August 30, 2011.
A special court issued a LR on September 14, 2011. In an affidavit to the Supreme Court, the CBI has said that it will pursue the matter with the help of a liaison officer in the Swiss Embassy, besides sending its own team to get a prompt response from Switzerland.
