CBI files a chargesheet against officials of the Essar Group in the Loop-Essar case -

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against Ravi Ruia and Anshuman Ruia of the Essar Group.

The chargesheet also included Vikas Saraf and I.P. Khaitan. Essar was charged for holding a controlling stake in Loop while holding a stake in Vodafone Essar.

Prior to this, the Ministry of Law and Justice had said that there was not enough evidence to file criminal charges against the promoters and officials of the Essar Group.

The ministry’s opinion contradicted that of Attorney General Goolam Vahanvati, who had said that the CBI prima facie had sufficient grounds to prosecute the promoters and executives of the Essar Group and Loop.
