The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a six-month extension of the additional charge held by A. Robert J. Ravi as chairman and managing director (CMD) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), effective April 15, 2026.
Ravi, who serves as Deputy Director General for Standards, Research and Innovation at the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), was first given additional charge as chairman of both BSNL and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited on July 13, 2024. The DoT had subsequently extended his additional charge for a further six months in October 2025.
Further, the central government has renewed its confidence in Ravi following the progress made under BSNL’s turnaround strategy, which has driven average revenue per user to Rs 101 in FY26, a year-on-year increase of 42 per cent.
