As per industry sources, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) will provide locally-developed technology solutions worth over Rs 21.14 billion to Indian Railways. This move is aimed at helping Indian Railways reduce dependence on foreign technology.

To this end, the Railways Ministry and C-DOT have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for replacing foreign technology gears being used in Indian Railways. The partnership will not only reduce the dependency of railways on foreign technologies but also mitigate security risks.

The MoU is expected to bring great synergy in meeting specific goals of modernising and expanding nationwide railways communication networks through C-DOT’s indigenously designed technologies.
