The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-K) for the purpose of developing prototypes for a 10-gigabit-capable symmetric passive optical network (XGS-PON) optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONU).
The agreement has been signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme. It is envisioned that the project will yield new design, development, and commercialisation of the state-of-the-art 10 Gbps upstream and downstream access network technology solution. This will facilitate the growth of affordable broadband and mobile services in India.
Both C-DOT and IIT-K expressed their enthusiasm and reiterated their firm commitments towards taking this engagement further.
