BTVL has topped the GSM chart with the highest number of subscribers. In November 2005, it garnered a 27.87 per cent market share. The company had around 15 million customers, followed by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at 13.2 million (with a market share of 24.02 per cent), according to the latest data collated by the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI).

Hutch with a 19.31 per cent market share and a subscriber base of 10.6 million and Idea with an 11.23 per cent market share and 621,000 users were next in line.
