Luis Alvarez is going to be the new chief executive officer (CEO) at BT Global Services, say news reports.
Alvarez will take over as the CEO from October 1, 2012. He has worked with BT for the last 12 years and currently holds the position of president, BT Global Services, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
He will take over from Jeff Kelly who is returning to the United States after serving as CEO at BT Global Services for three years. Kelly will continue be part of the BT team, as a senior executive advisor to BT in the US in a part-time capacity.
Commenting on his appointment, Alvarez, says, ?I see great opportunities for us in the marketplace. The global economy is going through a period of rapid change and the BT Global Services team is well placed to support companies through that period of uncertainty and opportunity. We have a strong business in the United Kingdom, mature operations in key economies and are expanding our presence in the fastest growing parts of the world. These are strong foundations that we will build on.?
