Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to invest Rs 70 billion for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots integrated with 3G and 4G networks across the country over the next two to three years. By the end of 2015-16, the company plans to have 2,500 Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.

The company has already rolled out its Wi-Fi service in Varanasi and will be extending it to more tourist areas. In addition to this, BSNL has also partnered with QuadGen Wireless for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots under a revenue share model. QuadGen Wireless has committed to set up 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots by June 2015 and another 5,000 by end of 2015. The company will set up Wi-Fi hotspots in South and West zone under this partnership.
