Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reportedly decided to commission 43 mobile towers across Nandyal and Kurnool districts in Andhra Pradesh, as part of several 4G mobile projects being undertaken in villages across the Nandyal Parliamentary constituency under the Department of Telecommunications, utilising funds from the Digital Bharat Nidhi.
The initiative aims to extend 4G mobile coverage to remote and underserved villages where commercial telecom operators have found it financially unviable to expand their networks independently. Four towers have already been commissioned, bringing 4G connectivity to four villages in the constituency.
BSNL is in discussions with state government authorities to expedite land allotment and other related activities required for commissioning the remaining towers, with erection work to begin immediately upon land handover. The 43 new towers are expected to be commissioned by March 2027.
While the four towers already commissioned cover villages in Banaganapalle and Peapally mandals, the new towers will come up across Kallur and Orvakal mandals in Kurnool district, and Banaganapalle, Bethemcherla, Dhone, Kothapalle, Midthur, Owk, Peapally, Sanjamala and Uyyalawada mandals in Nandyal district.
