As per industry sources, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has committed to adhere to the ‘trusted products’ procurement mandate of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for procuring 4G gear.
Further, the telco has reportedly waived of the condition to submit source code in Escrow account while it added that the domestic core must be provided by an Indian-headquarted company.
Earlier in January 2021, BSNL had issued a detailed notice inviting e-tender in which the telco had stated the guideline regarding ‘trusted products’ issued by the DoT along with its amendments would be applicable in the procurement of 4G gear.
Further, BSNL had said that it has removed the clause that sought the Indian companies to deposit the source code for core as well as radio-access network in an Escrow account.
