BSNL releases Rs 90 billion for VRS payments, MTNL clears Rs 10.5 billion for the same

As per the government, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) are working diligently to clear dues of 93,000 employees who have opted for the voluntary retirement scheme (VRS).

To this end, BSNL has so far cleared payments worth Rs 90 billion which includes Rs 41 billion of ex-gratia payment and additional Rs 49 billion for leave encashment.

Similarly, MTNL has also cleared Rs 10.5 billion towards payment of leave encashment, employee provident fund (EPF) and gratuity.

Nearly 15,000 and 78,000 employees of MTNL and BSNL, respectively, have opted for VRS.
