Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited?s (BSNL) financial woes continue.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Milind Deora, Minister of State for Communications and IT said that the company has taken a Rs 13.20 billion loan from the market to meet its expected capital expenditure during 2011-12.
Deora added that BSNL contributed Rs 2.024 billion and Rs 13.99 billion towards its pension fund during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively.
Meanwhile the company is pulling out all stops to stem losses. Prior to this, it was reported that BSNL had joined hands with Dimension Data to launch six Internet data centres in the country. With this, BSNL plans to offer a host of managed services such as co-location, hosting and cloud services.
These data centres will be built, operated and managed by Dimension Data and will be present in Mumbai, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Ghaziabad.
