Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is in talks with private operators to ink tower sharing agreements.
According to R.K. Upadhyay, chairman and managing director, BSNL, “We are in talks with various service providers to make arrangement to share our idle tower infrastructure with them and generate revenues in order to improve our bottomline. This (tower sharing pact) will take time, as many decisions need to be taken, with regard to the rent and duration of rented towers. I expect this will be done within this fiscal year.?
It is believed that BSNL is in talks with Bharti airtel, Vodafone, Essar Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications for this purpose. Upadhyay added that the company is looking to unlock the value of its idle real estate.
