Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has posted a gross revenue of Rs 41.66 billion for the quarter ended December 2011, a 11.19 per cent decline against Rs 46.91 billion for the quarter ended 30, September 2011.

The company is, however, pulling out all stops to stem these losses. It has, for example, joined hands with Dimension Data to launch six Internet data centres in the country. With this, BSNL plans to offer a host of managed services such as co-location, hosting and cloud services.

These data centres will be built, operated and managed by Dimension Data and will be present in Mumbai, Faridabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Ludhiana and Ghaziabad.

Meanwhile, the company registered an increase in its wireless user base for this period, from 86.71 million in December 2010 to 96.76 million in the period under consideration.

However, its wireline business continued to register losses. It declined by 10.31 per cent between December 2010 and December 2011, from 25.65 million to 23 million.
