BSNL is set to rope in Siemens, UTStarcom and ZTE Telecom as core equipment vendors for its upcoming broadband service rollout in 898 cities. The state-owned ITI, in conjunction with Alcatel, is expected to handle equipment supplies for 30 per cent of the total broadband tender in the northern states. Following the evaluation of price bids, the BSNL board is finalising equipment vendors for the designated cities and circles. Siemens may be the vendor in states like West Bengal (including Kolkata). The 2.8 million line broadband rollout will take place over a three-year time period.
