Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the leading telecommunications service provider of the country has launched a prepaid broadband service, which is now available on a pan-India basis.

This service is intended to cater to connectivity needs of large chunk of budget users, student community and casual users, who were feeling uncomfortable with post-paid broadband having fixed monthly charges.

BSNL has nine different denominations of recharge vouchers ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 3000 with limited download at speed upto 2 Mbps within the validity period of the voucher. In addition, there are validity vouchers for extending the validity period and top-up vouchers for increasing the usage within the validity period.

In order to popularise prepaid broadband service, BSNL is providing additional data usage and addition validity ranging from 50-100 per cent, depending on recharge denomination for all the prepaid recharge vouchers for limited period activated between 07.02.2011 and 31.02.2011. All the recharge vouchers of denominations between Rs 250 to Rs 1750 shall be provided additional 50 per cent data usage and those of higher denominations shall be provided 100 per cent additional data usage.

The vouchers ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 600 is being provided additional 100 per cent validity and vouchers ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 1750 are being provided additional 50 per cent validity.

BSNL is also offering many freebies to all new Broadband customers till 31.03.2011 i.e. free installation worth Rs 250 to all pre-paid and post-paid customers, free usage for first 15 days, staggered security deposit payment in three installments and free VAS (games on demand and entertainment portal) for one month to all post-paid broadband customers.

Further, to make wireline broadband more attractive and affordable for regular users, BSNL has also reduced per unit data transfer (download) charges beyond the free usage limit allowed within the fixed monthly charges for post-paid limited usage schemes, It has also introduced some new attractive schemes and extended some of the home usage plans to commercial and business users. It has also increased the download speed for many schemes. With this, BSNL provides tariff plans suitable for all segment of customers at most economic rates, consistent and high speed and transparent billing.
