Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched its 4G services in Punjab’s Amritsar under a beta phase. The telecom operator will also distribute prepaid SIMs to gather feedback about the quality of its network.

As per the telco, the successful proof of concept (PoC) of the Indian 4G stack equipment has been completed across 200 live 4G network sites in Fireozepur, Pathankot and Amritsar cities of Punjab. The beta launch of the BSNL’s 4G services has been conducted in Amritsar.

The deployment of the new network sites was part of an extended field trial following a PoC by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)- led consortium. BSNL had previously issued an advance purchase order of Rs 150 billion to TCS and ITI Limited for 1 lakh 4G sites. 20 per cent of the sites will be deployed by ITI.
