Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Kozhikode is targeting to provide 0.12 million mobile connections during the current financial year 2011-12.

According to G. Muraleedharan, general manager, BSNL, Kozhikode, the operator plans to provide 15,000 land line connections, 50,000 broadband connections and 1,200 Wi-Max connections.

He added that village broadband kiosks were opened at 17 stations in Kozhikode and Wayanad districts, from where high speed broadband could be browsed at Rs 5 per hour.

During the last financial year 2010-11, 0.2 million mobile connections, 15,788 landline connections and 14,522 broadband connections were provided.

Under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology Project, broadband connectivity was provided to 53 colleges and NIT, Kozhikode.
