BSNL is planning to form a separate telecom tower company. The state-owned telecom operator is also planning to lease out almost 40,000 towers to private companies. By doing so, BSNL hopes to generate revenues from companies such as Spice Communications and Idea Cellular, which might prefer to share telecom infrastructure as they expand into Tier II towns in the country. According to industry analysts, BSNL’s tower business could attract a valuation of almost $10 billion.
