Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has invited bids for the deployment of 10,000 new 4G sites across Delhi under an operational expenditure (opex) model, marking a shift from the traditional capital expenditure approach. The telecom operator plans to expand this model across the country if it proves successful in Delhi. According to the tender document, bidders must have an average annual turnover of approximately Rs 3 billion over the last three financial years.
The tender mandates the use of equipment approved by the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). BSNL also plans to commercially launch 5G services in Delhi by early 2026, following successful pilot trials in the city.
Further, BSNL has already deployed around 0.1 million 4G sites nationwide, all powered by homegrown solutions.
