According to Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has installed a total of 50,708 4G sites by the end of October 2024. Out of these, 41,957 sites are currently operational. Further, the equipment being deployed is designed to be upgradable to 5G.
In response to inquiries regarding specific timelines for BSNL’s 4G and 5G rollout across various states and union territories, the minister indicated that BSNL has placed orders for indigenously developed 4G sites as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative for nationwide deployment.
