
BSNL has shortlisted Chinese firm Haier Mobile to provide CDMA handsets under the latter’s bundled scheme, to be launched by end-2008. For its CDMA network, the operator plans to set up 10,000 wireless towers within a year. BSNL, which is investing about Rs 20 billion on its CDMA network rollout, has already invited expressions of interest from tower companies and other interested parties for infrastructure sharing.
