BSNL has decided to delay the opening of the $6-$6.5 billion tender for 93 million GSM lines from July 16, 2008 to August 30, 2008.
The decision, which has been taken due to a large number of queries raised by various vendors, comes at a time when the company is facing a huge capacity crunch. The vendors who will probably participate in the bidding process include Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), Ericsson, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent, Huawei and ZTE. Meanwhile, BSNL is planning to invest Rs 420 billion on network expansion over the next three years.
