Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to boost its revenue stream by expanding its landline business and reviving public telephony infrastructure, say news reports.

It will soon roll-out video calling facility and other value added services for its subscribers. It will also undertake expansion of its underground cable infrastructure in 45 cities across the country.

The company is weighing the option of reviving several of its idle public call office across the country. Similarly, it plans to tap business opportunities offered increasing population at the periphery of existing cities and towns. The operator plans to upgrade its existing broadband service to voice and video over broadband to attract more landline consumers.

Further, BSNL plans to offer telecom services to subscribers in the eastern and southern states in partnership with Indian Telephone Industries.
