State owned telecom Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has awarded contracts to ZTE, Huawei, Alcatel for its 2G and 3G network expansion.

These deals are worth Rs 14.37 millions. BSNL has awarded contracts for its Global System for Mobile (GSM) communication lines for expansion of 2G and 3G services. The contracts have been awarded for BSNL?s all India telecom circles barring telecom circles in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

BSNL had floated tender as part of the phase seven of its expansion in July 2011. Besides ZTE, Huawei, Alcatel others like Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Network had also participated in the bid.

The expansion of BSNL network includes planning, financing, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and annual maintenance. BSNL having awarded contracts to ZTE, Huawei, Alcatel has also sanctioned required money for purchasing equipments for in North, South and East zone.

In the past the company had floated tender for 93 million GSM lines in 2008 for all the telecom circles. And it again floated tenders for 5.5 million GSM lines in 2010 for the telecom circles covering North and East zones which were cancelled.
