British Telecom has decided to shut its call centre operations in India, which supplement its UK operations. The company is most likely to bring these back to Britain. The move comes after majority of the customers of the company expressed their desire to speak to a call centre in the UK.

British Telecom has been using call centres in Bangalore and Delhi to supplement its UK operations since 2003. The company is now planning to have more than 80 per cent of it calls answered in the UK by end-2016 and the rest in subsequent years.

The firm will, however, continue with its back?end office work and functions, that do not involve taking customers? calls offshore in India.
