British Telecom (BT) has signed a five-year agreement with Alcatel-Lucent for the evolution of BT’s 21st Century Network. This agreement will enable BT to transform its network to IP, apart from improving its customer experience and accelerating the timeto-market for next-generation services. By utilising AlcatelLucent’s high leverage network architecture and transformational services, BT will be able to introduce new video-rich services to wholesale and retail subscribers while at the same time expediting network convergence, increasing capacity and delivering costeffective content. Under the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will provide an innovative end-to-end transport solution to integrate IP and optical transport resources. In addition, it will offer professional services such as project management, design, installation and commissioning, repair and return, and software updates.
