BPL Mobile has applied to DoT for licences to operate in 21 circles. It has applied for the licences through shippingstop.com, a wholly owned subsidiary of BPL Mobile which provides GSM services in Mumbai. The licences will enable BPL Mobile to increase its footprint and derive economies of scale as well as cost synergies.
