Blackberry Limited will offer the cloud-based version of its device management platform, BES12 to make the service more accessible to small and medium enterprises which want to secure devices on their own networks. At present, BES12 caters to the needs of large government agencies and corporations. However, with the growing concerns around data security, BlackBerry has broadening its offerings to cloud.
With this, BlackBerry’s new BES12 platform will manage and secure not only BlackBerry devices, but also those which run on operating systems such as Android, Apple’s iOS and Windows platform. The management platform will also manage and secure medical diagnostic equipment, industrial machinery and even cars.
Meanwhile, BlackBerry has also announced that Vodafone India and Idea Cellular, among many other global telecom operators, will provide BES12 enhanced SIM-based licensing (ESBL) for their customers. With ESBL, the mobile operators will be able to provide customers with one monthly bill to subscribe to BlackBerry EMM services and BES12.
