Bhopal smart city project has been chosen for implementation of 5G pilot project. With this Bhopal becomes one of the four locations in the country chosen to hasten setting up of 5G-led telecom infrastructure in the country. To this end, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) representatives met with officials of Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL).

As per BSCDCL, pilot project will be conducted online in 120-days that will pave the way for high quality internet-access and services. The telecom companies will choose the places in Bhopal and BSCDCL will act as the facilitator.

The other three locations in the country for the pilot project includes, Delhi airport, Kandla port in Gujarat and Bengaluru metro rail corporation. Meanwhile, locations in Bhopal, where 5G network and pilot project would be rolled out, would be shortlisted soon.
