Six operators, including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), Idea Cellular, Videocon and Telenor have filed applications to participate in the forthcoming spectrum auction scheduled for November, 2012, say news reports.
Amongst the incumbent operators, Reliance Communications (RCOM) is the only operator who has decided to not participate in the auctions.
Other players like Etisalat, STel and Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), whose licences are set to be cancelled in December, 2012, have also decided to not participate in the auction.
Videocon has reportedly filed its bidding application for both 1800 MHz (GSM) and 800 MHz (CDMA) spectrum. Telenor is going to bid for GSM spectrum under a new wholly-owned entity called Telewings Communications Services Private Limited.
