Bharti Telecom, the holding company of Bharti Airtel, has increased its ownership in the telecom company to 40.33 per cent by acquiring an additional 1.2 per cent stake from Indian Continent Investment Limited (ICIL) through an off-market transaction.

As a result of this deal, ICIL’s stake in Airtel has decreased from approximately 4.51 per cent to 3.31 per cent.

With this BTL remains the largest shareholder in Airtel, with the Mittal family and Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) holding 50.56 per cent and 49.44 per cent stakes in BTL, respectively.
