Bharti Telecom, the majority stakeholder in Bharti Airtel, has purchased a total of over 1.493 million shares of the company for Rs 545.1 million, through open market transactions.
Prior to the acquisition, the promoter group held a 45.55 per cent stake in the company, which has now increased to 45.58 per cent, as per a filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The promoter group firm acquired the shares on November 23 and November 24, 2011, the filing added.
