Bharti Space Limited is reportedly set to invest an additional €120 million (approximately Rs 12.04 billion) in French satellite operator Eutelsat Communications S.A. through a rights issue, as part of Eutelsat’s €1.5 billion (over Rs 150 billion) capital raising initiative.

This follows an earlier commitment of Rs 3 billion (€30 million) by Bharti Space via a reserve capital increase. Bharti Space currently holds a 24.09 per cent stake in the Eutelsat Group.

Earlier on June 19, 2025, Eutelsat announced a capital raising plan totalling €1.35 billion (around Rs 112.50 billion), comprising €716 million (Rs 68.65 billion) via reserve capital increase and €634 million (Rs 63.30 billion) through a rights issue.

However, as per the latest update, Eutelsat has increased the size of the capital raise to €1.5 billion (over Rs 150 billion), following the UK government’s decision to participate. The revised round now comprises €828 million (Rs 83.04 billion) via reserve capital and €672 million (Rs 67.39 billion) through the rights issue.

Further, Eutelsat expects to conclude the fundraising by the end of this year. The UK government, which holds a 10.9 per cent stake in Eutelsat, has pledged to invest €163.3 million (around Rs 16.38 billion). Furthermore, the funds will be used to reduce debt and scale up investment in satellite constellations, as part of Eutelsat’s strategy to strengthen its position in global space communications.
