Bharti Airtel has reported a 22 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 10.11 billion for the quarter ended December 2011. The company has attributed this to higher interest outgo and costs related to the roll-out of 3G networks.

As per a company statement, the operator said that the roll-out of its 3G network resulted in a higher amortisation cost of Rs 1.64 billion for the quarter, while its net interest cost rose to Rs 1.16 billion.

Total revenues rose to Rs 184.77 billion, from Rs 157.72 billion, registering a growth of 17 per cent.
