
Bharti Airtel has reported a 135 per cent increase in its net income from Rs 6.1 billion for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 14.36 billion for the quarter ended December 2014. Revenues grew by six per cent from Rs 219.38 billion to Rs 232.17 billion. Meanwhile, the company witnessed a 4 per cent increase in its operating expenses, which grew from Rs 148.6 billion to Rs 154.4 billion.
The company?s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by 9.64 per cent from Rs 71 billion for the quarter ended December 2013 to Rs 77.85 billion for the quarter ended December 2014. Meanwhile, the EBIDTA margin also improved from 32.4 per cent to 33.5 per cent during the same period.
Its revenues from its Indian and South Asia operations grew by 12 per cent, from Rs 148.7 billion to Rs 166.4 billion during the same period. However, the African operations suffered a 6 per cent decline in its revenues from Rs 72.28 billion in December 2013 to Rs 68.27 billion in December 2014.
For its Indian operations, the contribution of non voice revenue in total revenue grew from 17 per cent in December 2013 to 22.6 per cent in December 2014. The average revenue per user from data services grew by 25 per cent year-on-year from Rs 137 to Rs 170 during the same period. However, voice ARPU declined by three per cent from Rs 162 to Rs 157.
