Bharti Airtel is likely to launch its 4G service in Delhi soon as it has received the Department of Telecommunication?s go-ahead for the same. It has reportedly partnered with Huawei for the planned launch.

The operator?s 4G launch in this circle has been held up due to a legal case. Airtel had acquired the required spectrum through acquisition of Wireless Business Services Private Limited (now Airtel Broadband Services). DoT had raised a demand of Rs 4,360 million from Airtel for merging the company with itself. The operator had approached the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal in the matter, which ruled that Airtel can operationalise its spectrum subject to its filing an undertaking before the court that in case the petition fails, it will pay the above amount along with interest within eight weeks from the date of judgment.

While the DoT has given its go-ahead post the ruling, Airtel is yet to file a written undertaking.
