
Bharti Airtel is planning to install 20,000 additional 4G base transceiver stations across the country by 2015-16. The company will be rolling out mobile tower sites to use its 20 MHz of broadband wireless access spectrum. The operator currently has 20,000 4G base station. It has set aside an investment outlay of $3 billion a year for spending on network expansion alone.
Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel is also taking steps to encourage higher network usage. Airtel, in partnership with China Mobile, is targeting to bring down the price of smartphones that support all networks to Rs 6,000 per phone by 2015-16.
