Bharti Airtel has partnered with the International Finance Corporation to increase the penetration of mobile financial services in Zambia. The $1 billion deal will facilitate building of the mobile services of Airtel Mobile Zambia over the period of three years. IFC will help the telecom operator in market research and advisory services on agent network management and boost the business strategy.

The partnership is part of the $37.4 million Partnership for Financial Inclusion project, a joint initiative of IFC and the MasterCard Foundation. The project aims to expand microfinance and improve mobile finance in the Sub-Saharan countries.
