Bharti Airtel plans to roll-out 4G services in Chandigarh by March 2013. The operator is already offering 4G services in three cities – Kolkata, Bangalore and Pune.

The operator will launch 4G service in Chandigarh in association with the telecom equipment manufacturer ZTE. The 4G technology allows an operator to offer download speeds of about 100 Mbps per minute when the user is on the move and 1 Gbps at a fixed location.

Bharti Airtel had won broadband wireless access (BWA) licence for four telecom circles covering Kolkata, Maharashtra, Punjab and Karnataka in 2010. The operator had paid Rs 33.14 billion for the BWA licences in the four circles.
