Bharti Airtel has launched its 4G services in the Republic of Seychelles. With the launch, Seychelles has become the first country in Africa to deploy the operator?s commercial 4G long term evolution (LTE) network. According to Airtel, the 4G network is expected to cover around 10,000 LTE subscribers in the first phase.

For the service in Seychelles, Airtel has partnered with Ericsson to deploy 4G network. The agreement between Ericsson and Airtel includes implementation of software and support services, installation of multi-standard radio base station equipment and upgradation of existing 2G and 3G access network software.
